This position is considered to be Fully Onsite, work is to be done onsite at a PetSmart location (Phoenix Home Office, PetSmart stores, Merchandise Development Center, Distribution Centers or another PetSmart site).

Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Industrial Engineer to join our team at PetSmart. As an Industrial Engineer, you will play a critical role in optimizing our distribution center's efficiency, productivity, and overall operational performance. You will lead and execute projects to enhance processes, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial engineering principles, supply chain management, and distribution center operations.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process Optimization: Identify, analyze, and redesign key operational processes within the distribution center to streamline workflow, reduce cost, and drive productivity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing tools such as Lean Six Sigma to drive operational excellence and eliminate waste.
  • Workflow Design: Design and implement efficient workflows, ensuring optimal utilization of technology, equipment, and labor resources to achieve operational targets.
  • Technology Integration: Identify and implement technology solutions and automation to drive operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Methods: Subject matter expert in documented methods. Provide guidance to the operation on correct methods and consult on proposed methods changes.
  • Labor Standards: Lead execution of the Labor Standards Program. Maintain standards and methods and be the subject matter expert on the Labor Management System. Ensure consistent execution across the network.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, transportation, procurement, and IT to improve distribution center operations in alignment with broader organizational goals.


CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/SKILLS

  • REQUIRED: Proficiency in MS Excel; Experience with data visualization (PowerBI, Tableau, etc.)
  • PREFERRED: Proficiency in SQL; Experience with Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodology.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to drive informed decisions.
  • Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), material handling equipment, and automation technologies.
  • Excellent project management skills, including leading and executing projects from concept to implementation.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence across different levels of the organization.
  • Experience conducting time studies and developing engineered labor standards.
  • Experience with Warehouse and labor management systems.
  • Travel up to 25%


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on distribution center optimization or a comparable environment.
