Position is on site 5 days a week-Baltimore, Monday-Friday, standard day hours.

The Infection Prevention Epidemiologist I assists the Hospital Epidemiologist and the Director of Operations of the Department of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control with the activities of the department to prevent the spread of infection within the Johns Hopkins Hospital and affiliated locations. Duties include planning, implementation and assessment of the infection prevention program by evaluating all policies, procedures, and practices relating to infection control, performing surveillance for outcomes and process measures and making recommendations to improve infection prevention within their areas of responsibility. He/she must utilize a knowledge of epidemiology, infectious diseases, modes of disease transmission and principles of infection control and prevention, cleaning, disinfection and sterilization, performance improvement and adult education. He/she is accountable to both the Hospital Epidemiologist and the Director of Operations of the Department of Hospital Epidemiology and Infection Control for meeting these responsibilities.

Work experience in health care, public health, epidemiology, or microbiology

Bachelor's degree required. Degree in nursing, microbiology, epidemiology, public health or related field preferred.
