Responsibilities:

• Perform administrative requirements such as completing necessary forms, reports, class and student records, assist with training needs, orient new hires and assist in identifying and correcting problem areas.

• Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of maintaining the in-service training program under the direction of the DON

• Make written and oral reports/recommendations to department directors concerning staff development programs. Communicate the program in such a way to encourage staff participation and involvement

• Lead the Infection Control Committee and conduct routine meetings, rounds on the nursing units to monitor compliance, control problems and recommend corrective action and collecting and reporting data.

• Initiating infection control measure as required and directed, with knowledge of State and Federal regulations, ensuring facility compliance, educating and managing personnel, overseeing resident care, and working with other departments to meet this goal

• Provide annual in-servicing training of staff members concerning Standard Precautions

• Assist in the preparation, scheduling, and selection of instructional equipment, training aids, and materials, to provide an excellent in-service program, or as may be directed by the Administrator or Director of Nursing

• Attend, participate in, and evaluate workshops, seminars, etc., to keep abreast of current changes and teaching techniques in the health care field, including outside training programs and activities

• Establish a priority system of staff development training, and develop a program to meet those needs including training governing established policies and procedures of exposure or blood/body fluids

• Serve on various committees of the facility as directed

• Assume the responsibility for staffing needs for nursing floors LPN's, RN's and CNA's, to assure the needs of the facility and residents are meet for each shift including day, evening and night shift.
