DTSC's Office of Communications is looking for a Information Officer I to join our high-performing media relations team. We value collaboration, creativity, and respect. As an Information Officer I (Specialist) you will have the opportunity to:
  • Produce and edit written materials that explain in plain language the Department of Toxic Substances Control (Department)'s goals, initiatives, proposals, and progress of work
  • Develop and plan the implementation of the Department's regional and state communications efforts in English and Spanish languages including news media relations, publications, brochures, reports, public presentations, and electronic communications, including the Department's website
  • Develop news releases, opinion/editorial (Op-ed) pieces, news articles, feature stories, speeches, presentations, and other forms of communication that is distributed to news organizations, posted on the Department's website, used as talking points during DTSC events, and included in pamphlets and other publications

Working Conditions

A hybrid work environment is being established. The Office of Communications Deputy Director will work with you to establish two in-office work days a week.

This position can be located at the Sacramento Headquarters Office, Sacramento Regional Office, Berkeley Regional Office, Commerce Regional Office, Pasadena Environmental Chemistry Lab, Chatsworth Regional Office, or Cypress Regional Office.

Statement of Qualification (SOQ) Instructions

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required for the hiring manager's review. Applications submitted without an SOQ may be disqualified.
