UVA Information Technology Services (ITS) is seeking an Information Security Education and Awareness Coordinator to join the Information Security (InfoSec) Service and Engagement team. Reporting to the Information Security Officer - Governance, Risk and Compliance, the Coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing information security awareness and education programs within the organization. This role plays a critical part in enhancing the organization's overall security posture by ensuring that all employees and stakeholders are well-informed and trained on security best practices, policies, and procedures. The successful Coordinator will be solutions-oriented and leverage interpersonal skills to build numerous professional relationships and develop an intimate knowledge of secure technical solutions that will support the business processes and missions of numerous UVA departments and schools.

What you will do:
  • Design, develop, execute, and provide metrics on; annual required and recommended University-wide information security training campaigns; biannual University-wide sim-phishing campaigns; Security Awareness Month events
  • Prepare and lead in-person information security awareness sessions
  • Write and facilitate the writing of periodic information security and policy awareness articles
  • Design and facilitate information security-themed escape rooms and table top exercises
  • Web site maintenance and updates
  • Maintain Litmos learning management system
  • Facilitate training of school and departmental staff on InfoSec services and processes
  • Facilitate delivery of appropriate training from third-party providers
  • Work with schools and departments to identify specific information security training needs
  • Work collaboratively with other InfoSec team members
  • Potentially, supervise a student worker who would help with, e.g., writing, design, and web tasks
Required Qualifications:
  • High school diploma and at least 3 years of experience with training and/or information security
  • Highly detail-oriented and self-driven
  • Solutions-oriented with the ability to leverage interpersonal skills to build numerous professional relationships and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fundamental marketing and design skills
  • Knowledge of security best practices
  • Project management and organizational skills
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Relevant information security certifications (e.g. from SANS or ISC2)
  • Relevant experience in a higher education environment
  • Relevant associate or bachelors degree
  • Knowledge of e-learning platforms and tools
This will be flexible hybrid role that will require periodic on-site visits.

Anticipated hiring range: $70,000-85,000
