What You Will Do

This position will be filled at either the Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2 or 3 level, depending on the skills of the selected candidate. Additional job responsibilities (outlined below) will be assigned if the candidate is hired at the higher level.

The Laboratory's Weapons Program (DDW) includes Associate Level Directorates (ALDs) in Weapons Physics, Weapons Engineering & Testing and Weapons Production. ALD Weapons Physics (ALDX), Weapons Research Services (WRS) Division is seeking qualified applicants in the Secure Networks & Assurance Group (SNA) for the position of Information Systems Security Officer. This position is specifically for an Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO). Depending on the needs of the ALD's and the networks, you may be assigned to one or more of our classified networks as an ISSO on a rotational basis and acting as an alternate for a secondary classified network. Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2 ($90,000-$147,100)
As a Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2, you will work as part of a team of cybersecurity professionals responsible for a wide variety of computing and cyber security duties for all the classified networks within the Weapons Program (TA-55, HD&D, ALDX, WSLAN and Main Shops). You should be able to effectively communicate and coordinate cyber security policies and procedures at all levels within the organization, both orally and in writing; work independently and in a team environment, analyzing problems, proposing solutions to management, and deploying and documenting implemented solutions, as well as perform mission/engineering software scanning, NEA cyber assessments, OT assessments, cyber analysis and reporting. You should also be able to apply an understanding of weapons mission customer needs to the identification of appropriate cyber secure tools to meet the need.

Cybersecurity Technical Staff 3 ($109,100-$182,000)

In addition to what was outlined at the lower level, at this level leadership and mentoring of lower-level staff would be expected, as well as assisting the primary ISSO and ISSO Team Leader with introducing and developing new technologies, and processes, as well as improving existing processes.


What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements:

Technical Knowledge
Knowledge of and experience implementing the NIST Risk Management Framework (RMF) for information systems. Advanced knowledge of cyber security environment, including network and host system concepts, compliance, and certification. Advanced technical knowledge of classic and contemporary cyber threats and vulnerabilities, and the ability to apply that knowledge to system engineering and operations.

Computing Environments
Extensive knowledge of cybersecurity and compliance implications in multi-user, multi-platform, and secure distributed computing environments.

Technical Problem Resolution

Experience investigating, evaluating, and working with internal and external organizations to resolve cyber security incidents in accordance with prescribed policies and procedures. Experience implementing technical cyber security solutions to address policy requirements.

Policies / Procedures / Documentation

Experience working with cyber security policies and procedures at all levels both orally and in writing, addressing policy requirements. Demonstrated experience writing and reviewing cybersecurity policies, security procedures, information systems security plans, test plans, disaster recovery plans, configuration management plans, and other related documentation.

Collaboration
Proven ability to work independently and/or in a team environment to analyze problems, propose solutions to management, and deploy and document implemented solutions. Demonstrated successful experience working in a high-pressure team environment.

Clearance
Ability to obtain a DOE "Q" Clearance, which typically requires US Citizenship, and ability to obtain HRP.

Additional Job Requirements for Cybersecurity Technical Staff 3:
In addition to the requirements outlined above, qualification at the higher level requires:

Leadership
Proven leadership abilities to lead teams of different skill sets and knowledge.

Advanced Cybersecurity Knowledge
Expert knowledge and expertise in one or more of the following disciplines: cybersecurity, information security, information assurance, computer science and reverse engineering.

Classified and Unclassified Setting
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of distributed system architectures, computer networks, and software packages.

Education/Experience at Cybersecurity Technical Staff 2: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field and a minimum of 5 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation. At this level post graduate work may be expected.
Education/Experience at Cybersecurity Technical Staff 3: Position requires a bachelor's degree in a technical field and a minimum of 8 years' related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At this level post graduate work may be expected

Desired Qualifications:

Record of Accomplishments
A record of accomplishments and expertise in undertaking and/or managing cybersecurity projects.

Computing Environments
In-depth knowledge of and experience working with classified and unclassified computer / cyber security requirements of the Department of Energy (DOE), the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), and Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). Experience monitoring computer systems to ensure compliance with computer security requirements.

Tools and Technologies
Experience with network and software scanning tools. Experience with cyber forensics. Experience with Splunk and other data aggregation tools desired.

Work Environment:
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.

Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. Additional Details

Directive 206.2 - Employment with Triad requires a favorable decision by NNSA indicating employee is suitable under NNSA Supplemental Directive 206.2 . Please note that this requirement applies only to citizens of the United States. Foreign nationals are subject to a similar requirement under DOE Order 142.3A.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.

*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.

New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law.
