Job Summary/Basic Functions

The Office of Information Technology provides a stable infrastructure, cutting-edge technology, and superior technological services to the VSU community. To deliver reliable information technology solutions and services to support the University's educational mission. Virginia State University has enriched it's Information Technology (IT) Service offering to provide students, faculty, staff, and administrator's with the best information technology environment available for the pursuit of an academic degree, for learning a new skill as a part of life-long learning, extended education program, or career enhancement.

The Information Technology Services Business Manager collaborates closely with the Chief Information Officer (CIO) to effectively manage budgetary and financial aspects within Technology Services. This includes diligently monitoring expenditures, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and ensuring financial resources are allocated optimally to support the organization's strategic initiatives.

Additionally, the position entails providing robust administrative support across various IT functions. This involves streamlining administrative processes, overseeing procurement activities, and maintaining accurate records to facilitate smooth operations within Technology Services.

Minimum Qualifications

• Strong understanding of IT administrative processes, including procurement, contract management, and vendor relations.

• Exceptional organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively and manage multiple responsibilities concurrently.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with internal stakeholders, vendors, and external partners.

• Proficiency in data analysis and problem-solving to support decision-making processes related to budgetary and administrative matters.

• Familiarity with financial management software and tools for budget tracking and reporting purposes.

• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.

• Skilled in the State of Virginia business systems such as eVA, Banner Ellucian, etc.

• Ability to manage day-to-day problems/issues related to budget, procurement, accounts payable, etc.

• Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, budgeting software, and MS Excel.

• Attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.

Additional Considerations:

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business Administration, information Technology, or related field.

• Additional certifications in Finance or Project Management.
