Under general direction of the Infrastructure and Operations Manager - Information Technology Manager I (ITM I), the Information Technology Specialist I (ITS I) functions as the E-Discovery and data governance expert for the Civil Rights Department (CRD) Information Technology Division. The ITS I is responsible for supporting complex E-Discovery, data governance, management, and extraction activities in support of critical departmental data inquiries while ensuring compliance with all Federal, State and Departmental policies. The ITSI serves as System administrator for the Microsoft Purview platform.

    Department Information
    The Civil Rights Department (CRD or Department) is the civil rights enforcement agency for the State of California. CRD's mission is to protect all people in California from employment, housing and public accommodation discrimination, human trafficking, and hate violence.

    The CRD is the largest state civil rights enforcement agency in the country. It enforces the California Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA), Unruh Civil Rights Act, Disabled Persons Act, Ralph Civil Rights Act, and the California Trafficking Victims Protection Act. The Department has jurisdiction over both private and public entities operating within the State of California, including corporate entities, private sector companies that contract with the State of California, and all State departments and local governments.

    The CRD receives, investigates, conciliates, and initiates individual and systemic discrimination complaints in its five offices throughout California. CRD litigates individual, class, group and systemic cases in all California jurisdictions, including state and federal courts. It leads education and outreach efforts to stakeholders and the public, and has an active regulatory and legislative program.

    Additional Position Information

    As mentioned above t his position is Hybrid and may be eligible for remote-work based on departmental guidelines and operational need. Although remote work is available, this job will be based out of our Sacramento County HQ Office and in-person attendance will be required for a minimum of two days per week, once approved.
