The Information Technology Supervisor 2 responsibilities include:
  • Requires through knowledge of computer science and data processing to directly supervise information technology staff (Help Desk) and oversees contract/temporary staff assigned to the Help Desk: prioritizes and approves work schedules and itineraries
  • Reviews and approves work products for content and accuracy
  • Responds to questions and concerns and resolves problems
  • Disseminates and interprets policy and procedures
  • Approves requests for leave, overtime, compensatory time, and travel vouchers
  • Identifies training needs and conducts or arranges for training opportunities (e.g. on-the job and in-service)
  • Writes employee goals and completes and conducts timely performance evaluation
  • Responds to EEO complaints and grievances
  • Conducts investigations and presents at pre-disciplinary hearings of alleged staff misconduct as requested
  • Initiates disciplinary action if necessary
  • Responds to complaints about staff
  • Conducts staff meetings
  • Screens and interviews applications, makes recommendations for selections for new staff
  • Provides technical assistance/information to users troubleshoots system problems/issues
  • Provides technical computer assistance to solve difficult user problems and issues
  • Assists with development, design and implementation of DRC applications and systems
  • Serves as an Administrator of ServiceNow, a ticketing software application used by DRC Information and Technology staff statewide
  • Assists with development and implementation of business rules
  • Provides training to Helpdesk Staff, users, administrators and others
  • Assists with development of user manuals and creates lesson plans for use of systems as needed
  • Writes and reviews system documentation
  • Attends development meetings and classes for testing newly developed modules
  • Attends meetings, trainings and conferences
  • May give presentations and conduct training
  • Responds both verbally and in writing to questions and concerns
  • Works on special projects and/or committees as assigned

Qualifications

6 1/2 years (78 mos.) exp. commensurate with job duties to be performed & knowledges & skills required as outlined in approved position description on file for position to be filled as advertised in job posting; 6 months exp. in performing project management functions as defined in series purpose.

-Or completion of undergraduate core coursework in computer science, or completion of undergraduate core coursework in any academic major which included at least one course in each of the following: advanced-level computer programming language (for example, COBOL, Delphi, Java, Powerbuilder, Visual Basic, Pl 1, SAS PCS, Pacbase, Full Visual Suite, Designer 2000, Developer 2000, C, C++, Visual C, ECL, or Visual Studio), logic-based mathematics, data base concepts (for example, Oracle, Microsoft Access, Paradox, Sybase, IMS DB, DB2, Cache, DMS, or RDMS), computer systems analysis & design, & basic data processing concepts; additional 4 1/2 years (54 mos.) exp. commensurate with job duties to be performed & knowledges & skills required as outlined in approved position description on file for position to be filled as advertised in job posting.; 6 mos. exp. in performing project management functions as defined in series purpose.
