      Pharmacy Technicians are essential members of the pharmacy team at Maine Medical Center, providing support for multiple facets of the pharmacy, including exceptional customer service. The Outpatient Oncology Infusion Pharmacy Technician III, under the general supervision of a pharmacist, performs a variety of technical and precise duties relating to medication preparation, storage, distribution, and disposition. This position requires an individual who is responsible for the daily preparation of non-hazardous and hazardous parenteral injections for pediatric and adult patients. The position is also responsible for specialized medication procurement and inventory control of medications and non-medication supplies. The position requires an ability to interpret pharmaceutical terminology including a wide variety of chemical compound names, quantification of medication needs based on prescribed dose, frequency, available dosage forms, and respond to inquiries regarding medication distribution from other healthcare professionals.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High school diploma, GED, or Associate's Degree preferred.
    • License/Certifications: CPHT certificate required within one year of hire and must maintain certification. Currently licensed as a pharmacy technician in the State of Maine or currently eligible consistent with the current State of Maine Board of Pharmacy requirements.
    • Experience: A minimum of three (3) years as experience in pharmacy, healthcare or related experience. New hires with greater than 3 years of experience will have 6 months to meet the essential functions of this role.
    • Able to meet the requirements of sterile compounding as defined by USP 797 (media fill test and gloved fingertip sampling) within three months of hire.
