Installation Technician

Insight Global is looking to hire a Cable Technician in a 6-month Contract-to-Hire role for a client of ours in Norfolk,VA . This candidate will be installing and wiring internet, television, and security system cables, including but not limited to: the laying, terminating, certifying, and pulling cable for projects on new construction and retrofit sites. Any new construction and wiring, as well as maintaining current buildouts will be expected of this candidate. The hiring manager is looking for someone who can go out into the field and trust that the work is getting done in a timely and professional manner. Candidates will be expected to follow direction from the Project Manager, and also a PM Tool that lays out project details and to-dos. This candidate will join a team of telecommunication professionals who provide high-speed internet and security solutions to commercial and industrial clients.

$20/hr to $25/hr.

Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including skills, experience, and education.

Required Skills & Experience

At least 1.5 2 years of Field/Cable/Installation Technician work
Cabling or Installation experience with a variety of the following:
o Fiber Optics, Cat 5, Cat 6, Ethernet cables such as RJ45 or RG6, Coaxial, and Copper
Experience performing all or a combination of the following:
o splicing fiber, terminating/certifying cables, installing servers in racks, punching down on patch panels, putting on head-ends, installing internet/security systems, and structured cabling
Someone able to terminate, certify, and pull the cables, as well as complete the entire wiring process for internet/security cabling projects

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

Cable Management Certifications BICSI
DCJS clearance
Experience working security and door access controls
