Summary

The Department of Biology at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track Instructor to teach Biology in the Modern World (Biol 1000), Introductory Biology Laboratory (Biol 1060), and possibly other biology courses to begin August 2024. The successful candidate will teach 18 credit/contact hours per 9-month academic year and manage Biol 1060 laboratory sections each semester. Teaching assignments may include, but are not limited to, Biol 1000, 1060, 1300, 1310, 1350, 1360, 3020, and 3830. The workload for this position is 75% teaching and 25% service, which includes development and coordination of the Biol 1060 Introductory Biology lab sections for non-majors. Applicants must have at least a master's degree in biology or a closely-related discipline.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • Master's degree in biology or a closely related field.


Preferred Qualifications

  • A PhD in biology or a closely related field.
  • 1 (one) year of undergraduate biology teaching experience in lecture and lab settings.


Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
