Job Summary:

The Department of Pediatrics, Section of Nutrition has an opening for a full-time Research Instructor. Research priority involves conducting a clinical trial and integrating multi-omics (e.g., metabolome, proteome, microbiome) to predict and evaluate response by examining linkages between laboratory data and clinically relevant outcome

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and test a comprehensive multiple health behavior change program for weight management utilizing the Multiphase Optimization Strategy
  • Research priority involves conducting a clinical trial and integrating multi-omics (e.g., metabolome, proteome, microbiome) to predict and evaluate response by examining linkages between laboratory data and clinically relevant outcomes
  • Specific research duties will include all tasks associated with conduct of human clinical trials (e.g., recruitment, consent, program delivery, data collection, program evaluation) and data analysis
  • Specific training duties will include completing training in pragmatic clinical trial designs, MOST methodology, qualitative and mixed-methods approaches, and dissemination and implementation science
  • Develop hypotheses and experimental plans for additional research projects
  • Troubleshoot and customize experimental tools and clinical design to respond to research questions
  • Collect, prepare, and analyze research data
  • Maintain computer database of research data, tabulate and display data for presentation in research conferences and manuscript preparation, use graphics and statistical software to analyze and present data
  • Create and deliver multiple nutrition-related presentations at local, national, and international meetings
  • Participate in other educational opportunities as recommended by the faculty in the section of Nutrition and/or mentorship team or directed by Section Head
  • Publish research manuscripts annually
  • Lead and participate in grant applications

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

  • A Ph.D. degree in biochemistry, chemistry, food science, human nutrition, or a closely related field


Condition of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous successful experience in writing grants and publications.
  • Experience in nutritional science
  • Experience conducting human/clinical research trials


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of human nutrition, analytical chemistry, and food science
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and ability to use basic statistical software such as GraphPad
  • Strong technical research skills and reasoning ability
  • Strong planning and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with multiple PIs and manage time effectively while concurrently working on multiple projects

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

$68,870.00 - $71,318.00

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
