INVISTA is looking for an Instrument & Electrical Technician to join our asset management team at our Longview, TX plant.

Our Team

The Asset Management team is responsible for the support and ownership of site-wide mechanical integrity efforts and reliability through the application of technology. This position will report to our Asset Management Supervis or . It is vital for this position to be a team player with a team focus being respectful and applying principled entrepreneurship to all tasks.

What You Will Do

  • Operate proficiently at a journeyman Industrial Instrumentation & Electrical level.
  • Conduct standard diagnostics for systems such as 24VDC, 120VAC, 480VAC, and 5KVAC, including DC motor controls and their associated motors.
  • Troubleshoot and repair Electrical and Instrumentation mechanisms (e.g., limit/selector switches, solenoids, and industrial instruments), as well as resolve issues with site lighting, transformers, feeder cables, electronic temperature controllers, and electrical tracing systems.
  • Advance programs focused on maintenance predicated on equipment condition.
  • Perform intricate procedures for Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) activities.
  • Repair electrical and instrumental systems and restore them to perform their intended function
  • Execute Calibration/Function tests on both electrical components and process-related instrumentation.


Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Experience working as a journeyman as an Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technician in an industrial work environment
  • Experience in 5KV and 15KV switchgear
  • Experience with 480-volt motor control centers
  • Experience with Low Voltage and Medium Voltage Variable Frequency Drives
  • Experience in print reading for Electrical and Instrumentation Discipline
  • Experience reading, understanding, developing, and troubleshooting logic (Relay, PLC, Function Block, Cause and Effect, SAMA, Script, etc.)


Physical Requirements

  • Lifting requirements up to 50 lbs
  • Walking distances of up to a mile
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, ladders on vessels and columns, ladders associated with scaffolds up to 215 feet
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces
  • 80% of work is performed in an outside petrochemical manufacturing environment
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and inclement climate conditions.
  • Work Schedule: Monday through Thursday 10 hour shifts from 6:45am- 4:45pm with a rotating on-call schedule within the I&E department


What Will Put You Ahead

  • Associate's Degree or higher in instrumentation, electrical technology, or similar certification
  • Experience working with PSM Compliance programs.
  • 5 years experience as an Electrical and/or Instrumentation Technician in the Petro/Chem Industry
  • Experience and detailed knowledge of the current NFPA 70 National Electric Code with particular attention to wiring methods in Hazardous
