The Insurance Surveillance Specialist I, Policy Review is responsible for ensuring all required insurance coverage(s) are in place at appropriate limits to demonstrate compliance with investor requirements for high profile clients. This position focuses on the efficient review of commercial insurance policies, effectively communicating exceptions to agents and borrowers, and working collaboratively towards swift resolution of issues. Serves as a liaison to the Front-End Insurance Team in facilitating the efficient transition to servicing for all new loans and in providing information relative to refi's and assumptions.

Essential Job Functions (Duties/Responsibilities)

This position will have the following duties and responsibilities, including but not limited to:
  • Perform annual review of insurance coverages by reviewing policies including all schedules and endorsements, invoices, and/or declaration pages and certificates to determine compliance.
  • Provide clients with a noteworthy experience by developing meaningful relationships with agents/brokers and borrowers on all assigned accounts.
  • Interact with internal and external contacts (including premier clients, as required) and proficiently explain insurance coverage requirements.
  • Understand and apply all investor insurance guidelines to ensure compliance of insurance coverage through formal review of insurance documentation
  • Responsible for review of Loan Agreements, Appraisals, Engineering, Seismic, and Environmental reports to determine loan-specific information relative to insurance requirements.
  • Completion of timely follow-up on assigned accounts to ensure expedient resolution of all identified exceptions.
  • Drafting and filing of insurance waivers with supporting documentation on non-compliant insurance issues.
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining all insurance information and documentation within the Arbor servicing systems.
  • Assist with insurance related reporting to investors and auditors.
  • Process and review insurance endorsements, notices of cancellation and non-renewal notices.
  • Review of securitization documents to ensure compliance of loans involved in securitization.
  • Complete insurance review on all new loans and assist in approving validation of onboarded insurance information as it transfers into the servicing system.
  • Meets weekly productivity goals and standards as outlined by their direct supervisor.
  • Maintains a minimum internal accuracy score of 95% on all assigned reviews.
  • Serve as a liaison to the Front-End Insurance Team in facilitating the efficient transition of insurance on new loans into the servicing portfolio
  • Assist Portfolio Management team at Arbor with the handling of claims issues as needed (including requesting loss runs and obtaining loss adjustor information)
  • Communicate with all applicable parties regarding any lender placed insurance issues and process application for lender placement of insurance where necessary
  • Process and review internal quote requests as they relate to Lender Placed Coverage by completing the quote worksheet, assisting in sending notification letters, and assist with the monthly submission report.
Qualifications

Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associates' or Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related discipline or equivalent work experience preferred.

Experience: 2+ years' of experience in Commercial Lines Insurance.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
  • Ability to work as a part of a team, while providing a strong individual contribution with little oversight
  • Excellent attention to detail, judgment, flexibility, accountability and dependability
  • Enhanced knowledge of Commercial Insurance Coverage -Property, (including Flood, Wind, Earthquake and Terrorism), General Liability (including Workers Comp and Auto), Professional Liability and Umbrella/Excess Liability Insurance
  • Superior ability to read commercial insurance policies, including master programs, multi-layer, non-admitted policy forms and accurately determine the coverage provided therein
  • Deep understanding of exposure analysis, blanket exposure process, and density mapping
  • Requires excellent communication skills, written and oral, through all levels of the organization
  • Ability to develop meaningful relationships out of respect and collaboration with agents and borrowers on all assigned accounts, as well as the Front-End insurance team members
  • Strong time management and organizational skills for prioritizing multiple assignments
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills

Arbor Realty Trust, Inc. offers a competitive base salary and discretionary bonus. The starting base salary range for this position is $65,000 to $70,000. The specific compensation that will be offered is based on an understanding of the hired candidates' qualifications at the time of hire. Employees are eligible for a discretionary bonus based on employee work performance reviewed during the course of the year. The total compensation package for this position will also include other elements, a full range of medical, and/or other benefits including 401(k) eligibility and paid time off benefits.
