Integration Engineer

Madison, Wisconsin

Employer: University of Wisconsin–Madison
Industry: Information Technology
Salary: $85000 per year
Job type: Full-Time

Job Summary:
We are looking for an integration engineer to join our Integration Team. As an integration engineer in this position, you will build, manage, and support system integrations using our low/no-code Integration Platform, Informatica Intelligent Cloud Services. You will work closely with our other teams to assess partner needs, design integrations, and use new APIs we're developing. As you work with our partners, you will also help to identify needs and enhancements for new APIs that our other teams build and maintain. While no prior experience with an integration platform (e.g. IICS, Boomi, Mulesoft) is required, you must be experienced with data integration technologies, concepts, and have built integrations yourself. Experience with AWS and python are also preferred, and we are happy to train you in other necessary skills you'll need to be successful in this position.

Who are we?
DoIT's Enterprise Integration group provides software engineering and integration services, infrastructure, and consultation to UW-Madison. The work we do is varied and challenging in support of UW-Madison's mission. We value curiosity and eagerness to learn, problem solving, DevOps and an agile product mindset, and a commitment to effective, productive teams. We believe in solving whole problems for our partners and expressing solutions through technology.

Enterprise Integration's portfolio includes integration infrastructure and services, APIs, and products that enable enrolling in courses, degree auditing, and other academic and curricular capabilities. Our team of developers and integrators build and operate integration solutions like APIs through a mix of practicing DevOps, using cloud and on premises technologies, and brokering vended solutions. The UW-Madison integration platform we operate also enables self-service integration capabilities to the campus community, enabling our team to focus on enterprise-wide business problems.

Who are we looking for?
Enterprise Integration staffs software engineers/developers and integration engineers. Our software engineers focus on development of integration technologies (e.g. APIs) while our integration engineers focus on using vended and existing products to build and maintain integrations. Both roles work in concert to orchestrate integration technologies that provide a complete set of services for the UW-Madison community.

You'll need exceptional communication and customer service skills to work effectively with our diverse group of partners, vendors, and end users. We value, but don't require, experience with cloud technologies, systems administration, and experience working within a Scrum team. We also value, but do not require, foundational experience with cloud technologies and using vended platforms to integrate systems and data.

We will teach eager candidates who are willing to learn through a combination of self-study, hands-on experimentation, and partnership within your team. As part of a multi-disciplinary team that uses modern agile frameworks and cloud technologies, you'll have an opportunity to learn on the job. You should be willing to become proficient in new technologies and frameworks as our needs change over time. Above all, a positive attitude, commitment to your team, and willingness to learn will make you a good candidate - we can teach you the rest!
