Reporting to the Manager, Intelligent Automation, the Solutions Designer is responsible for vetting, designing and implementing automation solutions within Mass General Brigham. This role works closely with business owners to understand business processes and any possible customer requirements, while providing technical expertise to deliver optimal automation solutions that streamline operations and enhance productivity.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

• Designing automation process solutions in accordance with standard MGB design principles and conventions.

• Providing a high level of experience and knowledge of the Power Automate solution, Epic health information system, and associated methodology throughout all phases of the solution design process.

• Designing new automation processes and technology workflows using core-workflow principles that are efficient, well structured, maintainable, scalable and easy to understand.

• Creating and maintaining solution documentation.

• Identifying and communicating the technical infrastructure requirements.

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure successful automation implementations.

• Participate in meetings and presentations with business owners to demonstrate automation capabilities and discuss project requirements and progress.

• Participating in peer code reviews, as needed

• Assisting with development, QA and testing of automations, as needed

• Working within project planning constraints, communicating any identified project risks and issues to the delivery/project manager accordingly and providing inputs to the change control process.

• Other duties as assigned.

Working Conditions:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

• This position is Remote but with the expectation that folks may be asked to come into the office, on average, once per quarter for up to 4 business days (travel will be reimbursed per MGB policy).

• Hospital work environment working conditions include possible exposure to diseases or infections and may require safety gear (PPE) such as gloves and mask.

• Normal office working conditions. The noise level in the work environment is quiet to moderate.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit; talk; or hear; use hands to finger; handle; or feel; reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; and stoop; kneel; or crouch. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 5 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and depth perception.

Education

• Bachelor's degree preferred

Work Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in the delivery of IT systems. Experience in areas such as SDLC, Agile methodology, scripting, MS Office tools, basic development tools, languages, and best practice

• Experience working with multi-functional operational team

• Good interpersonal skills with the ability to interview process owners, gather business process details and identify solution requirement

• Good written skills with the ability to clearly document and explain business processes and automated solution designs.

• Good communication skills with the ability to present technical details to a non-technical audience

• A working knowledge of current business processes and the ability to understand new business processe

Skills/Abilities/Competencies:

• Possess strong interpersonal skills to effectively communicate with cross functional teams including staff at all levels of the organization

• Ability to successfully negotiate and collaborate with others of different skill sets, backgrounds, and levels within and external to the organization

• Strong problem solving and analytical skill

• Experience and knowledge of Business/System Analysis in a structured environment

• Understanding of workflow-based logic and the ability to both understand a business process from a workflow diagram and to conceptualize it as an automated solution

• Willingness and ability to blend business analysis with hands-on configuration of automated processes in the Blue Prism product

• Good written skills with the ability to produce clear and concise documentation

• The ability to work with a structured and methodical approach, combined with an enquiring mind.

• An understanding of, and a willingness to adhere to, formal change control procedures and disciplines.

• An aptitude for problem solving, with the ability to take a logical route to the source of an error.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities, adhering to deadlines.

• A self-starter who delivers high quality work and can adapt to new challenges, either on their own or as part of a team.
