JOB SUMMARY:
As the Patient Care Technician in our ICU, you will provide support to the inpatient nursing staff, while working to ensure comfort and safety for our patients and their family members.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Completes all necessary forms, requisitions, communications, and special projects as assigned
  • Accurately transcribes physicians' orders (when applicable)
  • Acts as a central communication resource at the nursing station for all patient care activities; maintains good customer service and patient confidentiality
  • Accurately inputs and retrieves data
  • Initiates, maintains, replaces, or completes various clerical forms, reports, supplies, etc.
  • Patient Care Technician
  • Assists patients and nurses as necessary with ADL, Vital Signs, and patient Plan of Care
  • Assists patients and nurses with lifting and positioning, using proper body mechanics
  • Functions in role of Constant Attendant and responds to Resusciteam page and Crisis Team page when directed by Nurse Director/designee
  • Transports (or assists with transport) of patients to other units or departments as necessary
  • Reports any changes observed in condition or behavior of patients


Constant Attendant
  • Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times
  • Assist the patient in daily activities as directed by the nurse
  • Assist the nurse in restraining and removing restraints


1:1
  • Maintain direct 1:1 constant observation
  • Keep patient within an arm's length at all times, even when patient is bathing and toileting
  • Remain alert and in visual contact with the patient at all times

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • RN license required due to specialty unit
  • Medical terminology/keyboarding skills preferred
  • Upon hire, a current CNA certification, or completion of one year of clinical experience in an accredited RN nursing program, or EMT-B, or equivalent (i.e., documented/verified years of acute care hospital experience as a CNA) required
  • Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required
  • Current NVCIT (Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training) certification or within 3 months of hire required
  • Experience in clerical or receptionist position preferred
  • Previous experience in an acute care environment preferred
