Duties and Responsibilities

Under the overall guidance of the Human Resources Officer, UN JPO Programme, CDPMO, and the direct supervision of the Associate Programme Management Officer, UN JPO, Programme, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties: •Assisting in designing, planning and carrying out data collection for the evaluation of United Nations JPO Programme. •Assisting in liaison with different UN agencies, member states and former JPOs. •Carrying out statistical analyses with the most common packages (SPSS, STATA, R), using a variety of methods to analyze a wide array of variables pertaining to the JPO Programme. •Preparing a statistical overview report on the JPO Programme for the period 2019-2023 based on the results of the analyses. •Fulfill other tasks as required.

Qualifications/special skills

To qualify for an internship with the United Nations Internship Programme, the following conditions must be met: • Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent); or (c) have graduated with a university degree (as defined above) and, if selected, must commence the internship within a one year period of graduation; Applicants are not required to have professional work experience for participation in the internship programme. Experience in analyzing statistical data is desirable. Proficiency in the use of databases in MS Access and Excel and statistical software such as SPSS or STATA is desirable. Experience with R is an asset.

Languages

English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is an asset. Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish are the official languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
