We are seeking a data professional to join our Internal Audit Data Analytics & Innovation team as a Director. The successful candidate will be a key member of the Audit department and will help with the development of data infrastructure and technology architectures to drive efficiency and support strategic initiatives.

The Internal Audit Division (IAD) drives attention and resources to vulnerabilities by providing an independent and well-informed view and impactful messages about the most important risks facing our Firm. This is accomplished by performing a range of assurance activities to independently assess the quality and effectiveness of Morgan Stanley's system of internal control, including risk management and governance systems and processes. IAD serves as an objective and independent function within the Firm's risk management framework to foster continual improvement of risk management processes.

This is a Director level position within our Technical Specialist function, which is responsible for providing extensive subject matter expertise and reinforcing the ability of business and technology audit teams to appropriately assess risk and determine and execute coverage.

What you'll do in the role:

• Conceptualize, design, and develop data models to fulfil the strategic data needs of the Internal Audit organization, as well as identify opportunities of automation and process optimization

• Plan, design, and maintain the architecture, structures, models, security and standards for various data integration and data warehouse projects within Internal Audit

• Collaborate with data leads to ensure new subject areas are designed and modelled to integrate with existing structures and provide a consistent view across diverse data source

• Develop and maintain documentation for the data architecture, data flow, and data models of the data warehouse that are appropriate for various audience

• Manage data governance and how this applies to both data architecture and in relation to other organizational governance structure

• Explore new, more efficient and effective ways of deriving value from data

• Produce data models and understand where to use different model type

• Maintain documentation and provide training and justification for design

• Design data integration solutions to facilitate the seamless flow of data between systems and data source

• Implement data synchronization mechanisms for real-time and batch data processing

Qualifications:

What you'll bring to the role:

• Proficiency in data modeling, data warehousing, and data integration concept

• Expertise in database technologies (e.g., SQL, NoSQL, MPP databases) and data storage solution

• Strong understanding of data security, compliance, and data governance principle

• In-depth knowledge of data platforms, database design, data modeling, and data warehousing concept

• Experience with data pipeline development/application development/programming e.g., Java, Python, SQL scripting or SOAP/REST

• Ability to translate complex technical data concepts and language into business context

• Ability to learn new technical skills such as new tools or programming languages and apply that to solve business problem

• Curiosity to understand the data and ability to present it in an informative manner

• Strong interpersonal skills to interact confidently within Internal Audit and with internal client

• 6-8 years of experience in data analytics with a strong background in liaising with technology partner
