Job Summary:
The Internal Communications and Engagement Specialist will deploy wellness communications and engagement strategies throughout all of SUNY Upstate Medical University. Will become familiar with all the current and potential offerings and programs under Upstate Well and communicate them to the entire Upstate community or targeted subgroups. Will determine the best ways to effectively reach categories of workers and learners, e.g. nursing staff, physicians, residents and fellows etc. Will design written and graphic communications tools for all Upstate Well programs. Will participate in and initiate "tabling" and other outreach events at all Upstate worksites. Will monitor participation and effectiveness of communications. Will maintain and improve the Upstate Well webpage.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field and proven experience (at least 2 years) in marketing, public relations or communications, or related, preferably in a healthcare or academic setting. Associate' s degree in related field and four (4) years of proven experience will also be considered.
Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to craft clear, compelling messages tailored to diverse audiences. Strong verbal and electronic communication and engagement skills with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and kindly. Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively. Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with digital communication tools and platforms (e.g., email marketing software, content management systems) is a plus. Graphic design skills and experience creating web content preferred. Knowledge of wellness and wellbeing initiatives is desired. Masters Degree or higher preferred.
Work Days:
Weekdays between 8am and 5pm.

Occasional early evening responsibilities. Not regularly, but may travel to outlying sites (Fly Road, Belgian Meadows, Cancer Centers) to improve communications and participation.
