MAIN FUNCTION:

The Internal Resource Pool Manager is responsible for overseeing the deployment and management of a flexible workforce across multiple locations. This role focuses on aligning resources to optimize system-wide savings, particularly in reducing premium labor expenses, while scaling and developing the float pool to serve as a long-term, strategic workforce solution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in resource management, operational efficiency, and workforce planning. Reports to the Director of Nursing Services.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Resource Deployment: Coordinate and manage the allocation of float pool staff to various locations based on operational needs, ensuring optimal coverage and efficient use of labor resources.
  2. Cost Management: Develop and implement strategies to minimize premium labor expenses while maximizing productivity and maintaining high service levels.
  3. Strategic Planning: Collaborate with senior management to align float pool operations with organizational goals, focusing on long-term scalability and workforce sustainability.
  4. Performance Monitoring: Track and analyze performance metrics to assess the effectiveness of float pool deployment and identify opportunities for improvement.
  5. Staff Development: Lead the recruitment, training, and development of float pool staff to ensure a skilled and adaptable workforce capable of meeting diverse operational needs.
  6. Process Optimization: Continuously review and refine processes for deploying float pool resources to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
  7. Reporting and Analytics: Prepare and present regular reports on float pool performance, cost savings, and other key metrics to senior management.
  8. Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain strong relationships with department heads and location managers to ensure alignment of float pool resources with operational demands.
  9. Compliance and Standards: Ensure all float pool operations comply with organizational policies, industry regulations, and best practices.
  10. Additional Responsibilities: Position is cross trained to function as a Clinical Supervisor on the AOMC and SJH campuses.
  11. Is responsible for attending all annual mandatory educational programs as required by position.
  12. EDUCATION:

Required: Bachelor's degree in Nursing with a current NY state licensure.

Preferred: Master's degree or advanced degree in Nursing with a current NY state licensure.

EXPERIENCE:

Required: Minimum of (5) years of experience in workforce management, resource allocation, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a managerial role.

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Desired:

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions.

Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a diverse team. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex information clearly to various stakeholders. Proficiency in workforce management software and tools.

CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 90 days of hire date. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required within 90 days of hire date. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) 90 days of hire date.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Appreciable physical effort required. Moving, lifting and assisting patients whose size and physical abilities can vary greatly. Some lifting, reaching, and stooping with the ability to frequently lift up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift up to 50 lbs. Required to be on feet much of the time.
