Why does the job exist?

This position will serve as the Interstate Compact on the Placement of Children Coordinator (ICPC) and Interstate Compact on Adoption and Medical Assistance Coordinator (ICAMA). Functions of this position include but are not limited to processing and tracking all ICPC assignments through software applications, coordinating and communicating with customers (other state coordinators, CYFD field staff, management, community based providers, foster/adoptive parents, relatives, biological parents), and providing ongoing and regular training and technical assistance to stakeholders and field staff.

How does it get done?

• The Coordinator Manages all the aspects of ICPC and of ICPC and ICAMA to endure appropriate and timely interstate movement of both foster and adoptive Children, as well as provision of benefits and services for adopted children with special needs. 20%;

• Serves as an information resource and assists adoptive families in identifying and accessing needed program and services for their children. 15%;

• Increase knowledge of ICAMA and E-Care Vault. Train how to input information and how to support youth who are adopted outside state to obtain Medicaid through ICAMA and E-Care Vault. 15%;

• Develop, cultivate and nurture working relationships with CYFD Managers and Associate Deputies, as well as ICPC. 20%;

• Increases knowledge and understanding of ICPC and licensure processes for children and families by attending trainings, work groups and committees within outside of New Mexico. 15%;

• Complete the closing out process of all old ICPC cases and maintain fidelity and accuracy of the National Electronic Interstate Compact Enterprise (NEICE) system. 15%.

Ideal Candidate

Experience as it relates to:
• Working directly with Children, Youth, and their families;

• Partner with Community Service providers as it relates to Children, and Youth;

• Working with Youth in a school setting;

• Determining eligibility for services that might be needed for the Children, Youth and Families;

• Conduct and complete assessments of safety, risks, strengths, and family needs;

• Developing Safety plans for the Children, Youth and Families;

• Participate in multidisciplinary meetings;

• Identify, provide, and/or arrange timely assessments/evaluations/ interviews;

• Conduct medical case management activities for eligible clients.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Guidance and Counseling, Education, Sociology, Criminal Justice, Criminology and/or Family Studies/Services and four (4) years of any combination of experience including working with communities, working on health or social service related matters, social work/case management experience, behavioral health and/or health care. Employment Requirements

Must possess a current and valid Driver's License. Pre-employment background investigation is required and conditional pending results.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting: late hours and weekends work may be required. Will be exposed to regular periods of video display terminal and keyboard usage and stressful situations. Travel may be required. Incumbent will work under stress and frequent time constraints.
