Job Summary

Yarde Metals is looking for an inventory control representative to join our Operations Team in Southington, CT. An Inventory Control Representative maintains and monitors inventory levels to assist in the inventory ordering and carrying costs of material.

Responsibilities

  • SAFETY FIRST!
  • Retrieve material from the inventory racking system according to work ticket, while verifying the location, size, alloy, quantity, and heat/lot #.
  • Safely operate powered industrial vehicles such as forklifts, side loaders, and overhead cranes.
  • Visually inspecting material for damage and nonconformance.
  • Reselect & transport and locate material into the inventory racking system.
  • Validating inventory and properly identifying material per quality procedures
  • Moving stock to appropriate locations for storage and replenishment of stock that are used for daily production.
  • Creating reports for the Quality department for inventory cycle counting using Company computer system (MetalTraq).
  • Verify location and material by comparing order to inventory tags.
  • Deliver material to designated saw locations for processing.
  • Record and report any inventory discrepancies.
  • Measure material using calipers, micrometers, and tape measures.
  • Conduct a final inspection to ensure the correct material was pulled for machine operators.
  • Prepare orders for shipping using strapping equipment and applying appropriate shipping tags.
  • Construct crates, skids, and boxes using powered hand tools and measuring equipment.
  • Tag and return material drops from processed jobs into appropriate locations.
  • Stage orders in appropriate shipping and loading zones for delivery.
  • Prepare and dispose of scrap.
  • Perform additional warehouse duties as directed by supervisor.

Requirements & Qualifications

***This is a SAFETY SENSITIVE position: requires operating heavy machinery.***
  • High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
  • Warehouse, material handling, and forklift experience preferred.
  • Must be able to read, understand, and carry out work instructions in English.
  • Basic arithmetic skills to calculate and convert decimals and fractions required.
  • Must be able to read and understand basic measurement functions (ruler, caliper, etc.)
  • Ability to pass a human performance evaluation to meet physical requirements of the job (lifting up to 70 lbs., pushing, pulling, etc.)
