Minimum Qualifications
Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent plus four (4) years of experience in a warehouse/inventory control atmosphere or material handling, two (2) years of which includes experience in a lead or supervisory capacity.
  • Education may substitute for experience up to the maximum of two (2) years.



Licenses or Certifications:
  • Valid Texas Class C Drivers License, if required for the position
  • If required for position, legally mandated training must be completed within 1 year of employment.

Position Overview:
The Inventory Control Supervisor l will oversee a staff of five (5) employees.The person in this role will be responsible for supervising the operations, activities and personnel engaged in materials and inventory management. Maintains inventory records in Operative IQ while adhering to yearly budget requirements. Additionally, the person in this role will be responsible for creating and managing delivery schedules and routes for drivers, as well as facilitating maintenance scheduling for vehicles.

The Inventory Control Supervisor I is expected to be a "working" supervisor and shall be expected to work overtime, support declared emergencies, and support on-call requirements, as well as schedule staff for duty.

About EMS :
The Emergency Medical Services department is responsible for managing critical time-sensitive life-threatening emergencies. While most of the assistance EMS gives to the community is medical in nature, everything we do is about service: service to our patients, their families and loved ones; service to our community; and service to the people who make up Austin-Travis County Emergency Medical Services.

Driving Requirement:

This position requires a valid Texas Class C Drivers License or the ability to acquire one by your hire date. External New Hires must meet the City of Austin's Driver Record Evaluation ( DRE ) requisite . To be considered for a driving position, applicants cannot have more than three moving violations or a total of six Driver Record Evaluation points within a period of thirty-six (36) months.

Essential Employee:
This has been designated as an Essential Employee position. In the event of a city-designated extraordinary situation or emergency condition, essential employees provide services that impact the public health, safety, utility services, and welfare of members of the Austin community and other employees, as well as ensure the continuity of essential operations. Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience:
  • Proficient in Operative IQ or any other similar technology inventory systems with the ability to create, load, track, and delete records within an inventory control system.
  • Experience with inventory control management with the ability to correct inventory discrepancies.
  • Experience managing inventory of controlled medications.
  • Experience managing delivery schedules and routes for drivers, as well as facilitating maintenance schedule for vehicles.
  • Experience supervising a diverse workgroup within a warehouse environment, to include problem-solving, conflict management skills, staff development, and experience shaping the culture of a work team.
  • Ability to work overtime, meet on-call requirements and be readily available to support declared emergencies.
Duties, Functions and Responsibilities
Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
  • Monitors and ensures section operates efficiently within appropriated budget. schedules expenditures; analyzes variances, initiates corrective actions and assists with procurement activities.
  • Completes operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees and following up on work results.
  • Controls inventory levels by reviewing data recorded in tracking system, retrieving data, designing reports and directing corrective actions to manage the inventory levels.
  • Reconciles physical inventory to inventory control records and addresses and resolves variances.
  • Provides support to departmental staff by researching and resolving discrepancies, recommending actions to manage inventory levels, and disbursement of inventory.
  • Ensures warehouse safety and security by maintaining compliance with guidelines, reporting discrepancies, and recommending corrective action.
