The Federal Reserve Board (Board) provides students opportunities for career success. The Board's Internship program is designed to provide valuable work experience for undergraduate and graduate students considering careers including, but not limited to, economics, finance and accounting, information systems, and data analysis. The Board believes that by combining academic endeavors with project-related work experience, qualified and capable college students can gain the practical knowledge need in a competitive global job market. Internships are paid positions with salaries commensurate with credit hours; internships may be in-person, remote or hybrid, depending on the needs of the team. Employment in the Board's internship program is granted to U.S. citizens. Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited university and returning to continue studies after the internship. Interns receive a syllabus or research project plan outlining their projects and goals for the internship. Interns are assigned a supervisor or mentor to guide them through their internship, and regular check-in meetings with their manager to manage performance expectations and assist with learning goals. Interns have access to a wide range of training programs and events for professional development purposes.

Position Requirements

As a Statistics Data Management Analyst intern, you will work in the Statistics area of the Information Technology Division and will provide support to teams involved in the collection, validation and analysis of data reported by financial entities used by decision makers. You will work closely with team members to provide data support, research and analytical services to those responsible for formulation and conduct of monetary, regulatory and supervisory policy.

What You'll Be Doing

Statistics Data Management Analyst interns support teams in

• Implementing new data collections

• Conducting research and analytical services related to financial data

• Validating data through the use of automated data collection systems

• Providing project management support, and much more!

Previous Statistics Data Management Analyst interns had the opportunity to contribute to projects related to

• Analyzing revisions of financial data submitted by financial entities

• Updating data quality checks

• Ensuring data collection system access requests are organized

• Processing data reported by financial entities

• Developing metrics for evaluation of the Statistics business line

• Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning (AI/ML)

Through these projects, you will gain experience with various data collection methods and technology, data validation processes, and have the opportunity to determine if a career in financial data collection and analysis is for you.

Education Requirements: The IT Internship requires a minimum of two years of college coursework in economics, finance, statistics, accounting, or related discipline.

This internship may be completed remotely, or in a hybrid capacity at the discretion of the selected candidate.

US Citizenship is required for all Board internships and applicants must be current students, graduating from their program fall 2025 or later.
