Pay

This position is a Non-Exempt position at pay grade 113.

Attendance

Non-rotating 40-hour work week, Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm; must be available to work additional hours as needed.

Overview

The IT Network Technician I provides daily operations support and maintenance for network systems (including cabling, wireless, video, and VoIP). They maintain LAN/WAN/wireless/video/VoIP operations by working with network team members, hardware/software tools and applications, and in various departments with internal and external customers to ensure timely problem resolution.

Responsibilities

• Installs various network equipment and hardware including pulling cable, installing fiber, mounting network components such as switches and routers, installing patch panels and wall plugs, mounting video assets, mounting wireless assets, and other duties

• Works with customers in resolving basic communication issues including but not limited to IP phones, analog circuits, and end device cabling

• Duties including documentation and reporting within the City help desk application; customer interface, communication, and follow; and the timely resolution of tasks and issues as assigned

• Works to diagnose and identify infrastructure issues, troubleshoot connected end devise, and effect prompt and accurate repairs

• Duties span the wired and wireless infrastructure, video surveillance, and cable plant (all mediums including fiber)

• May be asked to perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Requires a High School Diploma/GED

• Minimum of six (6) months to one (1) year of experience

• Must be able to attend and pass pre-approved Cisco, Fiber, or relevant technical courses

• A valid driver's license is required; successful out-of-state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Basis of Rating

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
