The Department of Pesticide Regulation is seeking an energetic and motivated Information Technology Specialist I for our Information Technology Branch team.

The Information Technology Specialist I functions independently as the Procurement Specialist within the Office of Technology Services in the Information Technology Branch (ITB). They oversee IT procurement, including various agreements and contracts, and manage day-to-day procurement activities to ensure timely processing. Acting as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in State contracts and procurement, they ensure adherence to enterprise and services management best practices and California State Information Management Manual (SIMM) regulations and procedures.

The Information Technology Specialist I oversees IT procurement, including managing various agreements and contracts, utilizing ServiceNow ITSM for tracking and updating procurement requests. Researches and recommends solicitation methods for IT goods and service contracts and collaborates with ITB units to develop procurement requirements and documents. Also work with the Business Services Office for procurement processes and budget reviews. Additionally, they act as a Procurement Process Subject Matter Expert, assisting with both IT and non-IT procurement requisitions, updating procurement forms, and reviewing internal documentation. The Information Technology Specialist I will track and manage procurement work orders through ServiceNow ITSM, provide guidance on State business requirements, and serve as a liaison between ITB and the Business Services Office. Furthermore, the Information Technology Specialist I will work closely with the ITB Enterprise Technology Services Unit on managing software licenses and hardware purchases, approving IT-related payments, and organizing internal inventory and software license databases.

Working Conditions
Performance of these duties requires the use of computers, infrastructure hardware, networks, databases, electronic mail (both internal and external), voicemail, and the Internet.

May occasionally work evening or weekend hours in response to system outages/recovery, maintenance, or upgrade activities.

Occasional statewide travel on short notice may be required to support regional office locations. Travel may require overnight stays, driving, and flying.

Performance of the duties indicated for this position occasionally require the ability to lift and carry equipment up to 25lbs.

Note: This position may be eligible for hybrid telework under Government Code 14200 for eligible applicants residing in California, subject to the candidate meeting telework eligibility criteria set forth in the CalEPA telework policy and/or future program need. Employees not residing in California are not eligible for telework.
