This position is located in the city of Sacramento .
Under the direction of the of the Information Technology Manager I, Information Security Office (ISO) in the Information Technology Services Division (ITSD), the Information Technology Specialist (ITS) I acts as a lead on privacy activities and works independently as a technical specialist. General duties include: ensuring compliance with statutory and regulatory privacy requirements; conducting privacy impact assessments, and documentation to determine what data is collected and where it is stored. Ensure data is stored and managed correctly through a data classification policy, a data retention process/policy, and enforcement based on classification. Thoroughly test, audit, and verify that policies are enforced. Facilitate the department's ability to classify or label data that may have specific risk profiles. Identify unusual data usage and risks associated with uncompliant data handling and loss; and develop an encryption strategy. Work closely with legal, contract, and program staff regarding the review of contracts, request for proposals, Memorandums of Understanding, and data sharing agreements to ensure compliance with State and Federal information security and privacy requirements.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule for employees who can satisfactorily perform their essential work functions independently and remotely. Specific telework schedules may be discussed further during the interview process. Telework is only available to residents of California."
