Why does the job exist?
This position is responsible for supervising general building custodial services for the General Services Department owned Santa Fe Buildings. The Supervisor will complete work orders from building occupants, maintain and order supplies on a set schedule, supervise and assign tasks to employees and assist staff with general cleaning in public areas and restrooms.
How does it get done?
The duties of this position include:
- Timely and efficient completion of assigned tasks given by the Custodial Manager.
- Prompt response to work orders.
- Assist in training personnel as required.
- Track and order custodial supplies.
- Identify potential safety hazards within the building and report them to the Work Control Center to create work orders.
- Assist with janitorial duties as necessary.
Who are the customers?
The position serves New Mexico State Employees, Service Providers, Visitors, and all cadets and state police personnel.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have the following skills and/or experience:
- Janitorial/custodial experience.
- Two (2) or more years of supervisory experience.
- Strong attention to detail and quality.
- Ability to remain on feet approximately 90% of the workday.
Minimum Qualification
Eighth grade education.
Employment Requirements
Must possess and maintain a current and valid New Mexico Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment.
Working Conditions
Work is performed in an indoor setting and may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles or caustic chemicals. Lifting, pushing, pulling, transferring, and/or carrying up to fifty (50) pounds. Position requires walking from building to building, walking up and down stairs. May require traveling from one campus to another. Requires some time in front of a computer doing paperwork.
