Job Summary:

The Janitor is responsible for but not limited to performing routine cleaning and light building maintenance.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Removes debris and waste material from floors and waste containers in work areas, and transports trash and scrap to proper disposal or salvage/recycling areas
  • Sweeps or cleans floors, using powered or manual equipment, cleaning solutions and floor drier.
  • Maintains/cleans production areas of the facility including, but not limited to restrooms, locker rooms, break areas, plant offices, lobby/visitor's entrance, kitchenette areas, conference rooms, quality office areas and lab, hallways and stairwells and entrances
  • Prepares cleaning solutions by mixing with water in correct proportions
  • Maintains inventory of cleaning supplies
  • Picks up refuse from plant grounds and performs light grounds keeping activities
  • Performs other light plant or equipment maintenance activities
  • Must adhere to the Martinrea Industries Environmental Policies and liquid clean up procedures
  • Must adhere to container and labelling requirements, manifest requirements, used oil disposal, empty container procedures, and universal waste and aerosol disposal
  • Operate cardboard baler as needed
  • Operate floor cleaner as needed
  • Operate Scissor Lift as needed
  • Understand and complete cleaning checklist
Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 1 year experience related to defined job responsibilities or equivalent training
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets/ Safety Data Sheets
