Java Technical Architect

Cognizant is looking for a multifaceted architect with experience crafting and developing sophisticated software systems and applications. The individual will work with product owners, domain authorities, and product managers to craft and deliver customer value. The role is encouraged to lead several software engineers in the delivery of custom cloud native applications.

The individual in this role will ensure that standard methodologies are followed and that quality code is delivered. Lastly, Cognizant needs an individual that loves to collaborate with other technologists and enjoys mentoring and coaching.
Location (Hybrid) : Pleasanton, CA

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

• Development of high-level solution design, for applications & systems and evaluations.
• Leads and/or participates in reviews of design concepts and creation of technical design documentation.
• Developing initial estimates for solution alternatives and making solution recommendations to the business area.
• Initiate, identify and coordinate the analysis of complex client needs in project areas such as: new business operating models, innovative approaches to IT solutions support, market research of emerging or available product functionality and operational readiness assessment.
• Participate in the leadership of cross-functional and/or cross-divisional task forces to identify and document functional requirements, workflow, information sources and distribution paths, and system specifications.
• Develop the analysis and definition of efficient, cost effective solutions that support client business processes and functional requirements and resource costs.
• Consult on the identification and definition of solution alternatives within the frameworks provided by Enterprise Architecture.
• Identifies opportunities for solution sharing and reuse.
• Identifies and coordinates with other project managers and implements schedule deadlines as appropriate.
• Advises clients on the consequences of actions. communicates risks and ensures understanding of these risks. Jointly develops risk assessment of plan with client.
• Participate in Enterprise Architecture integration, partnering and coordination activities

Key Qualifications:

• 10+ years Enterprise/Application architect experience in Java and front end technologies
• 5+ years Web Service design, Java development, and delivery experience
• 13+ years Distributed Application development
• 3+ years framework and reusable component development
• 5+ years' experience with software development methodologies. RUP, Agile, Waterfall
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent, Masters preferred
• Must have strong problem-solving skills.
• Experience with financial analysis and business justification.
• Ability to communicate and interact with various levels of an organization structure.
• Passionate about technology and willing to disrupt by exploring the leading edge.
• Ability to influence through partnership and collaboration.
• Ability to communicate complex technical solutions and concepts to leaders and business partners.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salary and Other Compensation:

The annual salary for this position is between $103,821 to 187,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
