Core Responsibilities:
Assisting the Engineer in preparing technical plans and construction documents for civil work projects, including overhead electrical, subdivision development (underground residential distribution), underground electrical (single & three phase) residential/commercial/industrial, and gas main design.
Using GIS and/or Bentley MicroStation/Autodesk Civil 3D to help the Engineer process survey data, develop design sketches, perform earthwork calculations, and other material quantity take-offs.
Using orthographic quadrangle, aerial photographic, or other appropriate base maps in the preparation of project plans.
Attending various professional meetings.
Assisting the Engineer in developing plans and construction documents for other civil works projects, including drainage, transportation, water, and sanitary sewer projects.
Coordinating projects with engineering consultants.
Conducting site visits as needed to ensure accurate designs.
Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Skills & Experience

2+ years of extensive drafting and engineering technician experience
Minimum of high school or technical school training with courses in computer-aided drafting or equivalent experience
Experience with AutoCAD/MicroStation
Ability to adapt to changes in work assignments on short notice and/or on a daily basis as project needs change.

Nice to Have Skills & Experience

5+ years of drafting and engineering technician experience
Prior work experience in an AEC-related firm
Effective oral and written communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships and interact effectively with coworkers and public agency officials.
