Summary

Baylor College of Medicine is recognized as one of the nation's premier academic health science centers and is known for excellence in education, research, and healthcare. The Department of Neurosurgery is a premier clinical and research department within BCM, housing one of the most advanced neurosurgical research enterprises in the country. The Department of Neurosurgery is seeking to hire an exceptionally qualified junior faculty member working with Dr. Kelly Bijanki to advance research on affective neural circuitry. This is a purely research position with no formal supervisory responsibilities. The ideal candidate with have a demonstrated record of productivity including first author publications and will be successful in generating high quality publications and obtaining independent funding in this role.

Job Duties

  • Designs experiments and collects new data to support scientific hypotheses for self and PI.
  • Analyzes data in support of scientific hypotheses of self and PI.
  • Presents findings in internal and external venues to generate feedback and improve interpretation of scientific data.
  • Drafts scholarly articles on the findings of experiments in collaboration with members of the department.
  • Identifies relevant grant application opportunities for self and PI.
  • Contributes to grant efforts of PI.
  • Drafts grant applications.
  • Administers mentored research grants if awarded.
  • The candidate will conduct intracranial electrophysiology and non-invasive electrophysiology experiments to characterize the affective neurobiology of mood disorders.


Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD required and suitable experience as a postdoctoral fellow.
  • Ideal candidate will have prior experience in electrophysiological analysis and research design in the domain of affective neurobiology.
  • Core competencies require analytical thinking, industry knowledge, collaboration, communication, and accountability.
