Leidos CIO Services currently has an opening for a Junior Software Engineer Intern in our Reston global headquarters office.

The Junior Software Engineer Intern will be part of our CIO Services Enterprise Observability team which are responsible for the monitoring of the Leidos corporate infrastructure. This internship is designed for individuals who are passionate about technology and eager to gain hands-on experience in a real-world, high-tech environment. The role involves a variety of tasks including coding, documentation, data management, and collaboration with multiple teams, providing a broad exposure to enterprise IT operations and observability practices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist in managing and optimizing our highly distributed Splunk Enterprise environment, along with other observability tools.
• Develop and maintain scripts and applications in Python to automate tasks and enhance system functionalities.
• Produce comprehensive documentation that outlines tool usage, data workflows, and system configurations.
• Facilitate the ingestion and management of data into Splunk.
• Design and develop reports, dashboards, and alerts in Splunk to monitor system health and highlight critical insights.
• Engage in continuous learning activities to deepen your understanding of various enterprise IT platforms and how they integrate within our observability framework.

Basic Qualifications:

• Must be enrolled in Software Engineering or Computer Science degree program.
• Proficiency in using the Linux command line is required.
• Familiarity with Python programming language.
• Understanding of GIT standard for deploying code.
• Experience with Linux editors such as nano, emacs, vim.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with working in an agile environment.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• A collaborative spirit, capable of working well in a team environment as well as independently on projects.
• A genuine curiosity and enthusiasm for learning about new technologies and IT systems.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with an ability to produce clear and concise documentation.

The position is 40 hours per week.

Pay Range: Pay Range $44,850.00 - $81,075.00
