Minimum Qualifications

Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

Preferred Qualifications

Ph.D. Candidate
M.A. or equivalent in art history, museum studies, or a related field; basic graduate-level work or professional experience with archival work
Approved for Kress Fellowship

Position Summary

Reporting to the Pierre Daura Curator of European Art, the incumbent will assist with a range of responsibilities related to the research, display of its rich and extensive collections, as well as providing curatorial support for installation planning, loans, and special exhibitions.

This will be a full-time, benefit eligible position funded for a period of two years with the possibility of renewal.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies
  • Working knowledge of 15th- and 16th-century art history.
  • Excellent writing skills, experience in conducting art historical research
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Initiative and collaborative spirit
  • Technical proficiency with personal computers and standard office equipment; fluent with Microsoft Office platform (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access); experience with collection management software; experience with TMS (The Museum System)
  • Experience in a museum setting and with exhibition planning and installation.

  • Bend, lift works of art, climb ladders, stand for long periods of time, spend long periods of time on the computer.

  • Collaborate with the Pierre Daura Curator of European Art on research, planning, and programming for an upcoming exhibition of works from Kress collections nationwide.
