Your Role and Responsibilities
  • As a Spectrum Scale Lab Administrator you will be responsible for supporting the Poughkeepsie lab hardware infrastructure (installing and replacing servers, HBAs, disks, and cabling HW), installing and maintaining operating systems, virtual platforms, and applications.
  • Lab admin will also be required to keep servers and infrastructure compliant with established security protocols and best practices. The job will also entail supporting the worldwide Spectrum Scale team with lab defects opened, help with migration to the new network infrastructure, learning Openstack cloud to help administer the environment that has been put in place to improve deployment of environments needed WW.
  • In addition, the Spectrum Scale build team needs someone to help manage and own the build servers & infrastructure.
  • There is opportunity for automation, tooling to be created that could improve the overall management of the data center.
  • We are looking for candidates who are not afraid to get their hands dirty and want to turn ideas into reality.
  • You will work in partnership with other lab administrators, but also with various Poughkeepsie teams that work to keep the labs running and organized.
  • You will also be engaged with Spectrum Scale architects, developers and testers worldwide.
  • You will be part of an Agile Squad that helps build and supports bleeding edge solutions and environments for customers around the world.


Introduction
IBM Spectrum Scale is the Software Defined Storage solution for the new era of data. This is an opportunity for a talented Lab Administrator to join the Spectrum Scale team and help reinventing and improving how a large lab functions; network, infrastructure, and Cloud environments. The ideal candidate is a technophile who thrives in a fast paced environment, is passionate about learning new tools and technologies, and is comfortable and able to make decisions on work priorities needing to be changed on a day to day basis. This person should be comfortable communicating with a worldwide team through various communication vehicles.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
  • Hardware set up and maintenance; intel and power based (expert).
  • Operating Systems RHEL, SLES, Ubuntu, Windows, AIX (expert).
  • Storage management (expert).
  • xcat (basic knowledge).
  • Openstack (basic knowledge).
  • Switch management (basic knowledge).
  • Adept a problem solving & debugging.
  • Network (basic knowledge).
  • Team player.
  • Experience working in world-wide teams.
  • Exceptional time management with ability to quickly prioritize work items.
  • Strong communicator.
  • At least 2 years of Agile Software Development Experience.

  • IBM Agile Explorer.
  • IBM Agile Advocate.
  • Enterprise Design Thinking Practitioner.

The compensation range and benefits for this position are based on a full-time schedule for a full calendar year. The salary will vary depending on your job-related skills, experience and location. Pay increment and frequency of pay will be in accordance with employment classification and applicable laws. For part time roles, your compensation and benefits will be adjusted to reflect your hours. Benefits may be pro-rated for those who start working during the calendar year.
