The Biomolecular Analysis Facility (BAF) Core is seeking a Lab and Research Technician 2 to perform sample preparation, methods development, and instrument operation. The BAF Core has a Shared Instrument section (small equipment) which this position will also maintain for open access. The Core processes samples for proteomics and metabolomics by mass spectrometry analysis. This position will be expected to perform steps such as sample processing, chemical modification, digestion, clean-up and loading the mass spectrometers. This work will require careful following of standard procedures and documentation. Attention to detail is required.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Associate's degree

Experience: At least 2 years of lab experience which may include student experience. Bachelor's degree in related science will be considered in lieu of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Degree in science such as chemistry, biology, biochemistry, etc.
  • Prior experience in protein chemistry.
  • Prior experience in mass spectrometry.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This position can spend extensive periods of time standing and squatting while conducting experiments or caring for animals. Also requires keyboarding and other bench work and animal procedures requiring finer finger manipulation.
