Advanced Microscopy Facility is seeking a Lab Manager to support operations of the facility, coordinate the activities of multiple and complex projects. Lab Manager will work closely with the Director of the facility to enhance services provided to the researchers and develop new and advanced microscopy techniques including data analytics.

JOB DUTIES:
  • Supervise multiple lab staff and complex laboratory activities.
  • Day-to-day operation of the core's service laboratory.
  • Support investigators who use various forms of light and electron microscopy in their research and the shared instrumentation of the AMF.
  • Serve as subject matter experts for staff in scientific experimentation and ensure that lab staff are properly trained in Standard Operating Procedures and equipment specific requirements.
  • Consult with investigators in research design and drafting text for publications and grant applications.
  • Perform specialized imaging techniques, image acquisition, and analysis.
  • Train scientists and students in the use of various light microscopes.
  • Supervise and training laboratory technicians.
  • Develop new methods and core services.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education: Master's Degree or equivalent in Biotechnology, Molecular Biotechnology or a related field and 4 years of experience in lab technical and/or supervisory role.

Experience: 3 years of experience in the field of microscopy including one or more of the following: confocal/multiphoton microscopy, super-resolution microscopy, light-sheet microscopy, electron microscopy and/or live imaging

Any amount of experience in or demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Sample preparation for electron microscopy
  • Sample prep for confocal microscopy
  • In situ hybridization
  • Image analysis
Licensure: None required
