Responsibilities
The George Washington University Hospital (GW Hospital) continues to be a leader in providing the highest level of quality and compassionate healthcare for the D.C. Region. U.S. News & World Report has just released the 2023-2024 ratings and rankings, in which GW Hospital is recognized as a Best Regional Hospital. GW Hospital received the American College of Cardiology's National Cardiovascular Data Registry (NCDR) Chest Pain - Myocardial Infarction (MI) Registry Platinum Performance Achievement Award for 2023. *GW Hospital is the only hospital in Washington, D.C., to be recognized for this service line.

POSITION SUMMARY
The lab technical specialist technical oversight to the molecular laboratory department. Works in partnership with the Molecular Lab Chief to establish technical standards and ensure continuity and quality of services.

POSITION SUMMARY
The lab technical specialist technical oversight to the molecular laboratory department. Works in partnership with the Molecular Lab Chief to establish technical standards and ensure continuity and quality of services.
Qualifications
- Education/Qualification
- MT(ASCP) or equivalent plus four years of medical technologist experience, to include related experience with molecular laboratory techniques including DNA and RNA extraction, amplification by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) gel electrophoresis preparation and hybridization will be essential. Knowledge of DNA sequencing, expertise with development and validation of laboratory assays and FISH (Fluorescence in-situ hybridization) analyses are desired.
- A Bachelor s degree in biological science plus five years of related experience with molecular laboratory techniques including DNA and RNA extraction, amplification by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) gel electrophoresis preparation and hybridization will be essential. Knowledge of DNA sequencing, expertise with development and validation of laboratory assays and FISH (Fluorescence in-situ hybridization) analyses are desired.

- Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity
