Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The lab technical specialist technical oversight to the molecular laboratory department. Works in partnership with the Molecular Lab Chief to establish technical standards and ensure continuity and quality of services.

Qualifications

• Education/Qualification

• MT(ASCP) or equivalent plus four years of medical technologist experience, to include related experience with molecular laboratory techniques including DNA and RNA extraction, amplification by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) gel electrophoresis preparation and hybridization will be essential. Knowledge of DNA sequencing, expertise with development and validation of laboratory assays and FISH (Fluorescence in-situ hybridization) analyses are desired.
• A Bachelor s degree in biological science plus five years of related experience with molecular laboratory techniques including DNA and RNA extraction, amplification by PCR (polymerase chain reaction) gel electrophoresis preparation and hybridization will be essential. Knowledge of DNA sequencing, expertise with development and validation of laboratory assays and FISH (Fluorescence in-situ hybridization) analyses are desired.
• 3 years of professional experience that demonstrates a progressive leadership background
• Skills:
• Fundamental computer skills and keyboard familiarity
• Able to speak and write English Fluent
• Demonstrated communication, organization and critical thinking skills
