Description
The L&D Registrar (also known as Patient Care Information Associates or PCIA) serves as the central source of information on the inpatient Labor and Delivery Unit interacting with patients, families and visitors; unit-based staff; and clinical and clerical staff in all departments throughout the MGH. The L&D unit at MGH is an exciting, dynamic work environment that is challenging and fulfilling.
Responsibilities include:
Successful cadidates for this role must remain calm in emergency situations with the ability to function at a high level to assist the team in coordinating resources for patient care. Candidates must be sensitive to patient needs and responsive to team needs. Effective interpersonal and communication skills are essential and must have outstanding customer service and organizational skill

Candidate requirements
• High School Diploma required, Associate Degree preferred
• Medical or health care experience preferred
• Proficiency in MS Windows, strong keyboard skills and ability to learn new systems & procedure
• Effective interpersonal and communication skill
• Must be able to read, speak, write and understand English
• Works well in team environment and emanates an enthusiastic, positive attitude.
• Exhibits diplomacy and communicates with patients, families, caregivers and coworkers in a manner that demonstrates respect, professionalism and a commitment to the team.

- Communication and coordination of admission and registration of patients;
- Clerical management of the patient record such as scheduling procedures;
- Assist with safety and security throughout the patient unit
- Telephone management and urgent communications (calling codes and paging for help)
- Obtains equipment and supplies within hospital
