Summary

The Center for Coregulator Research is seeking a Lab Manager to oversee and coordinate laboratory activities within the organization. As a key member of the research team, the Lab Manager will be responsible for maintaining laboratory operations, managing equipment and supplies, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting research initiatives and fostering a productive and collaborative research environment.

Job Duties

  • Consults with faculty to determine equipment purchase priorities based on budget, condition of existing equipment, and scheduled laboratory activities:
    • Collaborate with faculty to assess equipment needs and prioritize purchases.
    • Manage mouse colonies, genetics, and tissue culture for research support.
    • Utilize advanced computing skills for data analysis in equipment procurement decisions.
  • Prepares and puts in place equipment scheduled for use:
    • Oversee equipment procurement, setup, and maintenance.
    • Conduct genotyping assays to support genetic research.
  • Demonstrates use and care of equipment to research personnel:
    • Provide hands-on training and technical support.
    • Develop instructional materials for equipment usage and care.
  • Supervises laboratory personnel:
    • Provide leadership, mentorship, and performance evaluation.
    • Maintain productivity and efficiency within the lab.
  • Maintains research databases using scientific software:
    • Manage data and electronic records.
    • Train staff on database usage and maintenance.
  • Arranges service calls for equipment and orders laboratory supplies:
    • Coordinate equipment service and supply procurement.
    • Ensure timely delivery of supplies with a strong work ethic.
  • Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and performs repairs:
    • Troubleshoot and repair equipment issues.
    • Document maintenance activities for compliance.
  • Confers with faculty to evaluate new equipment and methods:
    • Assess research needs and adopt innovative techniques.
    • Utilize advanced computing for data analysis in equipment evaluation.
  • Serves as biosafety officer for the laboratory or department:
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and protocols.
    • Uphold biosafety standards with strong work ethic.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned:
    • Support projects, collaborations, and professional development.
    • Stay updated on technological and regulatory developments.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Basic Science or related field. Four years of related experience may substitute for degree requirement.
  • Five years of relevant experience, with prior supervisory experience.
