The University of Pittsburgh, founded in 1787, is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in the United States. Founded in 1878, the School of Pharmacy is the oldest of the University's schools of the health professions. Pitt Pharmacy is one of the top-ranked pharmacy schools in the country, and ranks 5th in total federal grants and 14th in NIH grants.
