Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant

Our Lactation Department is seeking a skilled nurse focused on helping new Moms through the Lactation process. Is that you?

Work location: Texas Health Plano, 6200 West Parker Road, Plano, Texas 75093

Work hours: Part Time, 24 Hours; 8:30am - 9:30am start time; Weekends and Holiday rotation required

Here's What You Need

• Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program

• BSN preferred

• One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.

• One year of Lactation Consultant experience highly preferred

• Outpatient Lactation experience preferred

• RN - Registered Nuse upon hire reqjuired

• IBCLC certification required within 12 months

• IBCLC upon hire preferred

• CPI - Crisis Prevention Intervention training required within 90 days and maintained annuually

• BCLS - Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

What You Will Do

• Function as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians.

• Serve as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.

• Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient's plan of care.

• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.

• Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.

• Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems

• Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
