Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

Assess, plan and implement treatment plans for breastfeeding mothers and infant needs. Develop a personalized plan of care for each couplet. Document accurately the medical history, medications, patient condition, care provided and patient's response t the interventions throughout the course of treatment. Incorporate families and patients in individualized patient education and discharge planning. Provide education to staff regarding breastfeeding and other pertinent issues using latest evidence based information. Collaborate with all hospital personnel to ensure effective communication about treatment plans for couplets.

Qualifications

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • Education per RN licensure requirement, BSN preferred
  • 2 years experience in maternal-child health nursing.
  • Current Texas nursing license. BLS (Basic Life Support) Healthcare Provider course according to RQI program
    guidelines must be completed during new hire orientation prior to working in a clinical setting. NRP within 6 months of taking position. Certification as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), preferred.
  • Must successfully pass any pre-employment assessment(s) required by the facility. Must be able to identify and competently address needs of populations served. Excellent verbal/written communication skills. Ability to lead, organize and develop lactation consulting program. Typing and basic computer skills
