The California Department of Fish and Wildlife (Department) is offering an exciting position within the Habitat Conservation Planning Branch's Lake and Streambed Alteration (LSA) Program where you will collaborate with colleagues across the state as the technical lead for the Program. You will participate in coordination and outreach, assist in developing policy and regulations, and be part of a program that helps protect California's diverse fish, wildlife, plants, and habitats. This position provides a unique opportunity to exercise your critical thinking skills while diving head-first into law and policy, permitting, program development, and much more.

Duties include working collaboratively with Department headquarters and regional staff on development and implementation of the LSA Program, developing policy, regulations, and legislative bill analyses; collaborate with Regional scientists, external agencies, and project applicants to ensure LSA Program compliance and consistency.

Ability to multitask, adapt to changes in priorities, and maintain a consistent quality of work during periods when workload is heavy and subject to short deadlines. Experience analyzing and managing data using Excel, R, and ArcGIS software. An educational foundation in fish and wildlife conservation and experience in CDFW environmental review and permitting programs, especially LSA and CEQA.
