The Laundry Attendant is responsible for processing hotel and guest laundry, including pressing, sorting and folding. Laundry Attendants use commercial pressing and folding equipment and are responsible for programming and logging of their operations. Duties may include clearing the laundry chute, ironing sheets, pillow cases, table cloths, folding towels, sorting soiled linen, loading dryers and distributing linen to various storage areas within the hotel.

Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor washing, dry cleaning, and drying machinery, including adding chemicals and cleaning lint traps.
• Identify stained or damaged items and determine status for repair, spot treatment, rewash, or discard.
• Inspect cleanliness of articles removed from the washer, dryer, or dry-cleaning machines and place in clean linen carts.
• Set dryers to designated times and temperatures based on fabrics contained in load.
• Remove lint and debris from dryer screens, dry cleaning filters, and drain trap after each load.
• Fold cleaned articles into designated size, either by hand or using folding machine. Maintain accurate records of items laundered.
• Organize and maintain in house laundry area.
• Counting, sorting and maintaining linen for inventory purposes.

Qualifications

• A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast paced environment
• Understanding of chemicals, proper drying techniques and technology to ensure quality final product guests
• Verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk moderate distances
• Ability to lift, pull, and push a moderate weight (about 50 pounds)
