Position Title (Classification Title): Lead Camp Assistant, Student Assistant Working Title: AFJROTC Summer Flight Academy Lead Chaperone Job Summary: UWF AFJROTC (Air Force Junior ROTC) Flight Academy is an 8-week, academic-based summer camp program offering a combination of flight training and ground flight academics for AFROTC high school juniors and seniors, AFROTC collegiate students, and/or Air Force Academy cadets. This scholarship program is an Air Force-level initiative in collaboration with the commercial aviation industry to address the national civilian and military pilot short. An AFROTC chaperone will be scheduled up to 29 hours a week in supervision of the participants and will reside in the residential halls alongside the participants. Throughout the program chaperones will support and oversee participants as they attend flight time, classroom academics, business, cultural, and recreational activities.
An AFROTC Summer Flight Academy Chaperone will:

*Supervise, work alone, and coordinate with others to chaperone activities during participants free time when they are not in-flight training.
*Ensure participants follow their daily schedule. Communicate with participants any changes to the schedule.
*Ensure the safety and well-being of participants by being aware of participant locations at all times, sharing and enforcing appropriate safety regulations and procedures, and identifying and responding to participant student behavior issues.
*Provide positive leadership and be a role model.
*Supervise participants during program hours in a safe, sensitive, developmentally appropriate, positive manner.
*Report any concerning issues and problems with participating students.
*Coordinate the maintaining of accurate program records including incident reports.
*Ensure compliance with established curfews.
*Coordinate the schedule for and drive the UWF van to transport participants to and from flight training, business, cultural, and recreation activities
*Coordinate Camp Assistant schedules for program coverage
*Work scheduled weekend and evening hours.
*Other duties as assigned. Department Housing Residence Life FLSA: Non-Exempt Minimum Qualifications: Applicants must be a student enrolled for credit. Applicants may be a student at UWF or any other college, university or high school. A student enrolled at an institution other than UWF must provide proof of attendance by submitting a registration/fee payment receipt from the school they will attend. Applicants must have a clean driving record and submit to having their driving record obtained for insurance purposes. Preferred Qualifications *Desire and ability to work with participant age group, providing feedback, encouragement, and coaching.
*Experience leading youth in a classroom or camp setting.
*Ability to lead, plan, organize, and implement program related activities.
*Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish tasks with little direct supervision.
