The North Central Surgical Center is seeking a Full-Time Lead Certified Sterile Processing Technician to join our team for the Evening Shift (3p - 11:30p. This position is eligible for the Full-Time Benefits Package!

The LeadSterile Processing Technician cares for and maintains all surgical instrumentation. Sets up supplies and instruments for surgery cases to serve mainly at the Main Hospital SPD Department. As the Lead Sterile Processing Technician at North Central Surgical Center, you will be contribute to the team by:
  • Acts as a resource for the SPD department.
  • Precepts new hires.
  • Helps to ensure unit techs are properly decontaminating area.
  • Daily management of the instrument room.
  • Maintains the inventory of instrumentation and supplies necessary for the smooth functioning of the instrument room.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of purchased and/or borrowed implant sets.
  • Communicates and works effectively with all personnel, physicians, and hospital departments.
  • Demonstrates dependability and accountability.
  • Seeks continued growth and education.
  • Sterilize instruments, equipment, utensils, linen and supplies using various types of autoclaves and aerator
  • Assemble and wrap material, instruments and supplies according to established aseptic technique.
  • Pulls supplies and instruments for all surgical cases.
  • Disassemble and clean equipment using approved disinfectants, detergents, soaps and cleaners.
  • Reassembles equipment after cleaning and operates to test for proper functioning; replace lost or damaged parts.

  • Must be a Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-3 years experience as Instrument Room Technician.
  • Minimum of one (1) year in a Led or Supervisor Role.
  • Experience with all types of sterilizers.
  • Knows operating room instrumentation.
  • Organized in setting up operating room instrument tray.
  • Understands operation of steam/ gravity sterilizer.
  • Understands Sterrad sterilizers.
  • Ability to prepare reports and keep records.
  • Familiarity with medical terminology and departmental supply items is required.
