POSITION SUMMARY

RAI is seeing a Lead CT Technologist who is accountable to perform all required diagnostic imaging procedures in Computed Tomography (CT). The Lead Technologist must function independently following the Policies and Procedures of Radiology Affiliates Imaging and be accountable for ACR accreditation process. This Lead will effectively and compassionately work with patients, their families, and interdepartmental personnel cooperatively.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with Technical Supervisor on department shift schedules. Review Tri-weekly schedule for accuracy
  • Block rooms as needed per tech availability. Assist with call outs
  • Maintain patient satisfaction
  • Communicate effectively, calmly, compassionately, and professionally
  • Pleasantly greet patients, verify their identification, and the correctness of the procedure to be performed corresponding with RIS/PACS data
  • Explain examination procedure to the patient and family, if present
  • Ensure that any required consent form are signed prior to examination
  • Respond to patient situations as needed
  • Ensure daily workflow is running efficiently
  • Perform all required diagnostic imaging exams following established/documented protocols
  • Capture best quality images, ensuring patient comfort and safety
  • Take necessary steps to avoid unnecessary exposure of radiation to the patient, family members, and fellow technologists
  • Monitor the condition of the patient and assist radiologist in performing needed medical procedures
  • Identify allergic reactions to injectable and initiate treatment as well as notify the responsible radiologist , Record incidents in patient information system to prevent future negative reactions. Follow-up with patients who have incident reports/reactions ton contrast
  • At completion of imaging exam, document in RIS/PACS all necessary clinical information, including but not limited to, patient history and existence of prior exams to ensure proper interpretation by the radiologist
  • Verify all studies have been read
  • Monitor unread worklists, ensuring any held studies are read in a timely manner
  • Check the accuracy of scheduled patients, scripts, and time slots. Make room for add on studies as needed. Respond to scheduling questions as needed about exams
  • Ensure communication is maintained throughout their department
  • Perform quality control testing as per the equipment manufacturer and or ACR standards
  • Perform weekly and monthly visual inspection of equipment to ensure good operational order and report any hazardous conditions or breakdowns to the responsible supervisor
  • Coordinate fellow technologists and Technical Supervisor on ACR accreditation processes and any inspections
  • Maintain temperature logs, alarm test for bathrooms, and downtown logs
  • Maintain Code cart
  • Set up and work with physicist for annual testing
  • Peer review for technologists
  • Call for service when needed and communicate updates to technical supervisor
  • Update policy/protocol books and communicate to the department. Maintain a file with current technologist licenses
  • Promote all imaging services of RAI to patients and visitors
  • Maintain good rapport with referring medical offices
  • Maintain necessary inventory of supplies for assigned room or work station , rotate stock in an orderly fashion, and eliminate outdated items. Report shortage of materials to the supervisor as soon as possible
  • Interview and train staff
  • Regular and prompt attendance
  • Adjusts staffing according to daily attendance and volume
  • Ensures that staff are reassigned as necessary to provide proper coverage for anticipated workload
  • Approves time off requests and work schedules to assure proper staff coverage for multiple sites
  • Maintains time records and submits proper information to the payroll department
  • Prepares formal performance evaluations annually and discusses evaluations with employees
  • Coordinates training of new staff technologists, maintains staff competency, and coordinates the training necessary to keep technical staff current with the latest technological advances. Ensures completion of annual competencies
  • Other duties as assigned


DESIRED PROFESSIONAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • At least two-year experience in certified modality
  • Completion of accredited Radiology, MRI or Ultrasound program
  • ARRT certification: X-Ray, CT, Mammography, and MRI
  • ARDMS Certification
  • RVT Certification
  • New Jersey license as Radiologic Technologist
  • Healthcare provider CPR Certification
  • Venipuncture certification
  • Good verbal communication skills in order to interact in a professional manner with patients, visitors, co-workers, equipment vendors and radiologists
  • Basic computer knowledge
